Abstract

On February 17, 2021, Jan Jagielski, our Friend and member of the Scientific Council of our journal, died.

Probably every contemporary researcher of the history of Polish Jews has met, sooner or later, Mr. Janek, a man a legend, a man an institution. And everyone ended up in a large room at the Jewish Historical Institute, lined with shelves full of hundreds of binders. In each - dozens of photos documenting the material life of Polish Jews: no longer existing synagogues, cemeteries, and post-war commemorations.
