redakcja@holocaustresearch.pl Author Biographyhistoryk, profesor, ur. 1923 w Warszawie, należał do podziemia żydowskiego w warszawskim getcie i ŻOB. Od 5 maja 1943 r. do 5 maja 1945 r. był więźniem obozów koncentracyjnych w Majdanku, Oświęcimiu i Mauthausen. Od 1947 w Izraelu, początkowo w kibucu Lehavot, a od 1961 w Jerozolimie. Był świadkiem w procesie Eichmana. W latach 1975-1993 był dyrektorem Ośrodka Badawczo-Naukowego Yad Vashem, jednocześnie profesorem na Uniwersytecie Hebrajskim w Jerozolimie. Od 1996 r. jest Głównym Historykiem Yad Vashem. Napisał 11 książek, w 1995 r. nadano mu tytuł doktora honoris causa Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego; jest vice przewodniczącym Międzynarodowej Rady Oświęcimskiej

Abstract
– Panie Profesorze, jak w czasie wojny Żydzi w getcie spostrzegali Polaków?
– Trudno mi oddzielić to, co dzisiaj wiem i co myślę, od tego, cośmy myśleli w getcie. W getcie pojawiali się prawie wyłącznie Polacy-policjanci, urzędnicy skarbowi lub członkowie kolumn dezynfekcyjnych. Te dezynfekcje w getcie były okropne. Poza tym Polacy właściwie nie istnieli.
