adam.sitarek@uni.lodz.pl Author BiographyHistorian, assistant professor at the Institute of History at the University of Łódź, head of the Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Łódź. He studies the history of the closed district of Łódź and occupied Łódź. Author of numerous works on the history of the Łódź ghetto, including the monograph Otoczone drutem państwo (A Country Surrounded by Wire). Struktura i funkcjonowanie administracji żydowskiej getta łódzkiego (The Structure and Functioning of the Jewish Administration of the Łódź Ghetto), which won the Polityka Historical Award in 2016. Member of the editorial team of Kronika getta łódzkiego (Chronicle of the Łódź Ghetto, 2009) and Encyklopedia getta łódzkiego (Encyclopedia of the Łódź Ghetto, 2015). Head of the project "Lexicon of the Łódź Ghetto," implemented as part of the National Program for the Development of Humanities.
