Abstract
Jan Grabowski, polski historyk mieszkający w Kanadzie, przedstawił w swojej książce rzeczowy, setkami przykładów i oszczędnym komentarzem opatrzony rejestr sposobów szantażowania, ograbiania i denuncjowania Żydów przebywających poza gettem. Przedstawiony materiał dowodowy obejmuje miasto Warszawę oraz powiat ciechanowski i dotyczy głównie lat 1940-1941. Ten względnie krótki okres rozpada się jeszcze na dwie części, przedzielone momentem zakończenia przymusowych przesiedleń i zamknięcia dzielnicy żydowskiej w Warszawie 15 listopada 1940 roku. Przed tą datą Żydzi byli szantażowani denuncjacją do gestapo za uchylanie się od obowiązku noszenia opasek z gwiazdą Dawida, za handel walutami lub kosztownościami czy za słuchanie zagranicznego radia.
