Operation Reinhardt in Light of Newest German Reference Literature

redakcja@holocaustresearch.pl Author Biographyhistorian, prof. Ph.D., from 2016 professor of Holocaust Studies and Jewish Studies at Touro College Berlin. In 2010–2016, an employee of the German Historical Institute in Warsaw and a lecturer at the University of Humboldt in Berlin and at the London School of Economics. He published, among other things, a monograph on the everyday life of the German occupiers in Warsaw and Minsk, entitled Okkupation im Osten. Besatzeralltag in Warschau und Minsk, 1939–1944 (2010; in 2016 the book was published in English, in 2018 a Polish translation will be available) and a monograph on the action "Reinhardt" entitled Der Kern des Holocaust. Bełżec, Sobibór, Treblinka und die Aktion Reinhardt (2017; in 2018 it will be published in Polish entitled Czas zabijania. Bełżec, Sobibór, Treblinka i Akcja Reinhardt).

Abstract
Akcja „Reinhardt” to niemieckim określenie maskujące, za którym kryje się wymordowanie w latach 1942–1943 co najmniej 1,8 mln Żydów w obozach zagłady w Bełżcu, Sobiborze i Treblince. Spośród Żydów skierowanych do tych obozów przeżyło mniej niż 150 osób. Dwie z nich to ocaleni z Bełżca, pozostali zaś mniej więcej po połowie przeszli przez obozy zagłady w Sobiborze i Treblince. Prawie wszyscy wyjechali po wojnie z Polski – do Izraela albo do Stanów Zjednoczonych.
