Abstract
Alex Dancyg - a native of Warsaw, Alex immigrated to Israel in 1957 with his parents, both Holocaust survivors, and his older sister. He carried with him a profound appreciation for Polish culture and history, alongside a fervent passion for sports and a deep concern for others. An enthusiastic sports fan and commentator, Alex possessed an intricate understanding of Polish football, basketball, ski jumping, and tennis, leaving no aspect of these sports beyond his expertise.
In addition to his athletic interests, Alex was well-versed in Polish poetry and prose and remained informed about the accomplishments of Polish cinema and theater. He frequently acknowledged the significant impact of the Ha-Szomer ha-Cair organization on his life, which instilled in him a commitment to empathy, dialogue, and collaboration. He elevated friendship to the highest virtue, believing that it is essential for fostering peace and positive relations among individuals and nations. "Behind which firmament did you hide your wise ear, Alex?" Your insightful lectures, guidance, and clarifications will be profoundly missed, as they made our world clearer and more comprehensible. Keywords
