The Minister of Education and Science announced a new list of scored scientific journals. It is completely incomprehensible to us why Zagłada Zydow Studia i Materialy / Holocaust Studies and Materials" again received the lowest possible score (20 points). This happened despite the fact that the journal meets the criteria which would give it at least 40 points (or more). We do not understand why ministerial "experts" do not take into account the 16-year-old achievements of the journal, its recognition in Polish and international scholar circles, indexation in many (also international, present in ministerial ordinances) databases.
We are amazed by the fact, that at the same time, completely new periodicals, without any achievements, non-indexed, receive 40 or even 70 points, debut on the list. Others record a large increase in scoring, despite the lack of any changes (e.g. in IF or indexability).
We allow ourselves to express our hope that Polish and international researchers, despite these difficult to rationally justify decisions of the Ministry, will be guided by their own integral assessment of the scientific quality of journals.
